I grew up breathing art, surrounded by my father's canvases and oil paints. My visual education began right behind the scenes of his work: watching him prepare the sets, study the lighting, and compose the scene live—posing models for his paintings—was my first, invaluable lesson in composition. From him, I learned technical rigor and the value of patience—a dedication that, over time, found vital energy and continuous inspiration through my friendship and invaluable exchanges with photographers Alessandro Petrini, Massimo Avenali, and Emilio Maggi. The deep respect I hold for their photography, along with my gratitude for the moments of true collaboration we’ve shared—especially out in the field—makes our bond an essential cornerstone of my journey.

Over the years, the discipline of music joined this visual foundation. My journey with the classical guitar taught me the profound value of timing, pauses, and listening. When I hold a camera, my approach is the exact same: I wait for the precise moment to let light and composition converse, with the same natural flow and lack of force required to play a chord perfectly.

My photographic roots are purely analog. I was about twelve when I started shooting with my father's Nikon FM2, developing black-and-white film rolls and absorbing the slow magic of the darkroom. This early influence made me a staunch advocate of straight photography—the pure, unmanipulated image. Although my tools have evolved from film to digital, my philosophy remains unchanged. In my workflow, I maintain a minimalist approach to post-production, recreating on screen the same tonal balances I once sought under the enlarger's light, without ever distorting the original shot. This visceral bond fuels my need to shoot in black and white—a space where I subtract color to focus entirely on volumes, lines, and contrasts. It is a visual language I also explore in street photography, seeking to capture the authenticity of everyday life. I consider photography an ever-evolving art form; for this reason, I never stop studying and diving deeper into the craft, driven by an inexhaustible desire to grow and continually refine my gaze.

This same aesthetic vision finds its highest expression in color macro photography, the true beating heart of my personal artistic research. I dedicate myself to the study of matter, seeking absolute sharpness and unveiling microcosms invisible to the naked eye, in order to render their beauty with total fidelity: what you see is exactly what the lens captured. This fascination with discovery is something I also love sharing with my daughter. Exploring these secret worlds side by side, marveling at unexpected geometries and interplays of light, transforms photography into a moment of pure, intimate connection.

In commissioned work, this discipline takes on a different form. When I photograph events—moving discreetly through dance theaters and across rhythmic and artistic gymnastics floors—I experience these challenging environments as a rigorous technical training ground. Having the opportunity to step into the field and work as a team in such dynamic situations—a precious chance for which I am deeply grateful to Massimo and Emilio, who trustingly welcomed me into their crews—trains me in mental clarity and flawless execution. The need to manage complex lighting and freeze athletic movements translates into a continuous, strict refinement of my craft. All of this acts as a solid counterpoint, nourishing—by contrast—the total expressive freedom I grant myself in my personal projects.
